Since retiring from the NFL in 2007, Michael Strahan has become a staple in television broadcasting. Alongside his time as co-host of Live! With Kelly and Michael (2012-16), he’s best known as an analyst for NFL on FOX on Sundays, host of ABC’s $100,000 Pyramid, and since 2016, co-host of Good Morning America with Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos. His career has continued to thrive, alongside passions like golf, his own apparel line, and skincare ventures. He’s clearly not planning to step back anytime soon.
The proud dad-of-four and grandfather-of-one, 53, shared insights during a 2025 Ryder Cup All-Star Celebrity Match at Bethpage Black, where he represented Team USA alongside Miranda Lambert, Noah Kahan, and Kane Brown, facing off against Team Europe, which includes Catherine Zeta-Jones, Brooklyn Beckham, and Pau Gasol. When asked about his potential retirement, Strahan emphasized his commitment to his work, stating, "I’m not going anywhere—I’m not stepping away from nothing!" He added, "I can still do all my jobs and still have plenty of time to play golf. So I’ve got the best of both worlds." Though he admitted to a competitive streak, it seems to run only through his mom Louise. "I don’t think we have anything competitive, no one likes to lose though," he said, adding, "But with my mom, we play cards every time I’m with her, and she’s the luckiest card player ever. So with my mom, yes, definitely competitive."
Strahan, an avid golfer for years, shared his love for the sport in a YouTube video titled Michael Strahan’s STRAYLAND, highlighting how golf is a game of self-reflection rather than competition. "The thing I love about golf is that you’re not playing against someone else—you’re playing against yourself and the courts," he explained. "It’s about focus and consistency, which is tough to find in a game of golf. But as an athlete, it’s the closest you can get to what you used to do, because it forces you to concentrate."
Reflecting on his own pro sports career, he noted, "In those sports, people yell, the ball moves, you get hit, you’re running—everything happens without thinking. Here, the ball doesn’t move, they tell people to be quiet, you’re out in the open green, and the fresh air—it’s harder to mess up. I don’t get it! You never figure out golf, that’s what I love about it."
