Luke Littler has done it again! The young darts sensation has secured his second consecutive World Darts Championship title, defeating Dutchman Gian van Veen in a stunning display of skill and composure.
Littler, at just 18 years old, faced off against van Veen, showing resilience after losing the first set at Alexandra Palace. He then stormed back with an incredible seven straight sets, clinching the coveted title for the second year running.
This victory marks Littler's third consecutive final appearance, following his loss to Luke Humphries in 2024 when he was only 16 years old. Throughout the tournament, 'the Nuke' dominated, losing a mere four sets overall.
Littler, channeling the words of two-time world champion boxer Anthony Joshua, echoed the sentiment, stating, "The first time was so nice, I had to do it twice."
This win places Littler in an elite group of only the fourth player to achieve back-to-back championships, joining legends like Phil Taylor, Adrian Lewis, and Gary Anderson. He's also the first to retain the Ally Pally title since Anderson a decade ago.
Littler's impact on the sport has been groundbreaking, and as a two-time champion in just three attempts, he further solidifies his position as the world number one.
But here's where it gets interesting... Littler also took home the £1 million prize, a testament to his dominance.
Van Veen, despite falling short of following in the footsteps of his countrymen Raymond van Barneveld and Michael van Gerwen by winning the World Championship, still achieved the rank of world number three.
Littler paid tribute to Anthony Joshua, who recently survived a fatal car crash in Nigeria. He told Sky Sports Darts: "Everyone knows what happened with Anthony Joshua and his guys and his team, rest in peace to his friends.
Littler reflected on his performance, noting that he improved from the second set onwards. He mentioned that he adjusted his stance, which ultimately led to his success.
Van Veen, while disappointed, acknowledged Littler's exceptional performance.
