The unit's dedication has been profound, with members locating, identifying, and retrieving over 600 soldiers who died in service since the war began. Their most recent mission was historic: searching a cemetery in northern Gaza for the body of the final hostage, Ran Gvili.
This macabre task required the unearthing of 250 bodies, with the assistance of forensic dental specialists, until they found and identified Ran's remains. The emotional impact was profound, with soldiers openly weeping and then breaking into song, expressing relief and joy as the chapter of their search came to a close.
As former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett poignantly stated, "Now that they have completed their holy work, we need to bow our heads and thank them. They have performed an act of true hessed for the families of the fallen and the entire nation of Israel. Thank you for bringing our fallen sons and daughters home."
