Get ready to lace up your skates and dive back into the drama because Netflix has officially renewed Finding Her Edge for a second season, and fans are already on the edge of their seats! Based on Jennifer Iacopelli’s captivating book, this YA series has been a runaway hit since its January 22 debut, consistently ranking in Netflix’s English TV Top 10 and even climbing to the #3 spot this week. But here’s where it gets even more impressive: the show has cracked the top 10 in 81 countries, racking up over 12 million views. That’s a lot of people falling in love with the Russo sisters and their high-stakes world of figure skating!
At the heart of the series are the three Russo sisters, heirs to a once-glorious but now financially struggling figure skating legacy. In Season 1, we followed 17-year-old Adriana (played by Madelyn Keys) as she trained for the World Championships alongside her new partner, Brayden (Cale Ambrozic). But here’s the twist: Adriana’s heart is still tangled up with her ex-partner and first love, Freddie (Olly Atkins). And this is the part most people miss—to save their family’s rink from financial ruin, Adriana and Brayden fake a relationship off the ice to secure a sponsorship. Talk about complicated!
Showrunner Jeff Norton shared his vision for the series, saying, ‘I wanted to create a show about love, where characters face tough choices in both their personal lives and their sport.’ And with Netflix and WildBrain’s support, he’s doubling down on the drama for Season 2. ‘We’re diving deeper into the two love triangles that drive the show—one romantic, one familial,’ Norton teased. ‘There’s so much more to come, both on and off the ice.’
But here’s where it gets controversial: Is Adriana’s fake relationship with Brayden a necessary sacrifice for her family’s future, or is she risking her own happiness? And what does this mean for Freddie, who’s clearly still in the picture? These questions have fans buzzing, and Season 2 is sure to keep the debate alive.
The talented cast also includes Harmon Walsh (Gossip Girl), Alexandra Beaton (Luckiest Girl Alive), Meredith Forlenza (Law & Order Toronto), Alice Malakhov (Anne With an E), Niko Ceci (I Woke Up a Vampire), and Millie Davis (The Umbrella Academy). Each actor brings their A-game, making it impossible not to root for (or against) their characters.
Jennifer Iacopelli couldn’t be more thrilled about the show’s success. ‘Seeing my book come to life and watching the world fall in love with these characters has been a dream come true,’ she gushed. ‘Now, with Season 2 on the way, I can’t wait to share what’s next for Adriana, Brayden, Freddie, and Team Russo.’
Behind the scenes, the show is in good hands. Jeff Norton executive produces alongside Josh Scherba, Stephanie Betts, and Angela Boudreault for WildBrain. Directors Shamim Sarif (You) and Jacqueline Pepall (Horrible Histories) bring their unique styles to the screen, while head writer Shelley Scarrow (Wynonna Earp) and writers Sabrina Sherif (The Summer I Turned Pretty), Norton, and Pepall craft the gripping storylines.
So, what do you think? Is Adriana making the right choice by faking her relationship with Brayden? And which love triangle are you most excited to see unfold in Season 2? Let us know in the comments—this is one conversation you won’t want to miss!
