In a dramatic turn of events, Carl Webster, a character on the popular soap, is about to unleash chaos. After being fired by Ryan Connor, Carl's anger knows no bounds, and he sets his sights on Debbie's hotel business. But here's where it gets controversial... will he actually succeed in burning it down?
Before Debbie's imprisonment, she tasked Ryan with keeping the hotel operational. So, when Carl refuses to assist with a simple task, Ryan has no choice but to let him go. Carl's response? A sinister plot to reduce Debbie's business to ashes.
"Carl's deviousness knows no limits," an insider reveals. "It all starts with Ryan asking him to put up QR code stickers around the hotel. It's a small request, but Carl's resentment towards Debbie's decision to put Ryan in charge instead of him leads to his refusal.
Sensing the tension, Ronnie, Carl's stepdad, sides with Ryan, but Carl isn't having any of it. Later, Ryan discovers the QR stickers in the bin, and that's when he decides to fire Carl. Little does he know, this is just the beginning of a dangerous path Carl is about to embark on.
Meanwhile, Adam Barlow brings some hope for Debbie, as he plans to use her recent Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) as evidence for a reduced sentence. Regardless of how Carl reacts, his lack of empathy for his mother is evident as he plots to destroy her livelihood.
With Carl's rage at an all-time high, will he succeed in blowing up the Chariot Square Hotel? And if so, what innocent lives might be at stake?
Sue Devaney, the actress behind Debbie, shares her character's fears about prison. "She's terrified. It's a completely new and unknown environment for her. Everything she knows will be taken away. Her dementia is already stripping her of her memories, and now prison will take away everything else. It's a matter of how she survives and adapts."
